Let's Finish What We Started - Together!
I am excited to announce my candidacy for reelection as your Mayor! This journey is not about holding a title; it is about our shared commitment to shaping a brighter future for every resident of Richmond Heights. Over the past three and a half years, my team and I have worked tirelessly, and we have only just begun.
Every achievement we've celebrated and every challenge we've faced has strengthened our unity and resilience. We are witnessing extraordinary growth and development in our community, a testament to our collaborative spirit and forward-thinking vision. However, we must maintain this momentum. I am dedicated to amplifying our progress by attracting new investments, creating job opportunities, and nurturing an environment where businesses and families can truly thrive.
Our actions reflect who we are as a community. My unwavering commitment to safety, economic development, and capital improvement projects has elevated our quality of life. We have listened to your concerns regarding road repairs, improved lighting, and infrastructure upgrades, and have taken meaningful action. We are implementing a comprehensive street lighting plan, secured our first Business Revitalization Planning Grant, and completed our park and recreation strategic plan to revitalize our recreational spaces. None of this progress would have been possible without your support and engagement.
After decades of staff cuts and disinvestment in our community, we are proud to have added more staff members to enhance our services. We are committed to being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars, ensuring that Richmond Heights residents receive the quality services they deserve. This year, we launched Richmond Heights most ambitious road repair program. We also plan to expand sidewalks and create safer, walkable spaces, making vital investments that enhance safety and improve everyone's quality of life.
Three and a half years ago, I promised to transform our city and build strong partnerships with our schools. Through collaborations with local schools and organizations, we have provided summer employment opportunities that guide our youth on their career pathways. Our newly launched Youth Advisory Committee advocates for youth engagement, ensuring their voices are heard and respected. We have even initiated a public safety academy, inspiring students to explore rewarding careers in public service.
Richmond Heights is truly growing! We proactively enhance public safety through partnerships with FirstCall and neighboring communities to address behavioral health and substance abuse, allowing our police to focus on community engagement. We have established a community bike patrol unit and initiated safety walks to build relationships with residents and address their concerns in real-time. In response to the closure of our local healthcare facility, I have secured funding to launch a Community Paramedicine program in collaboration with UH Hospitals. This program provides in-home services to keep our residents safe, healthy, and out of the hospital.
My upbringing instilled in me the values of hard work and community building. With a small business owner as a mother and a law enforcement officer as a father, I am committed to ensuring everyone in our community has the support they need to thrive. I am a member of the Cuyahoga County Senior and Adult Services Advisory Board. As the Vice Chair of the Education Resource Development Committee, I am proud to announce that we have secured additional funding to expand our senior home repair program. Through our partnership with the County, we have provided property tax assistance, and with our partnership with the Community Partnership on Aging, we provide transportation services for seniors and individuals with disabilities. My grandfather's journey from Trinidad to the American dream, starting a small landscaping business, has shown me the power of community engagement and the opportunities that arise when services are provided and resources are shared.
With vital programs like SNAP and Medicaid facing cuts, I will continue to advocate for these essential services as the Legislative Chair of the Cuyahoga County Mayors and Managers Association. I understand the challenges these cuts pose, particularly for women, and my work on the Cuyahoga County Women's Health Advisory Council focuses on eliminating healthcare barriers to ensure that every woman has the resources to lead a healthy, fulfilling life.
Effective leadership is rooted in hard work, transparency, and collaboration. I am proud to serve as a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the African American Mayors Association, and Vice Chair of the legislative committee for the Cuyahoga County Mayors and Managers Association, ensuring Richmond Heights has a strong voice in shaping the policies that affect our future. My goals have always been to be a change-maker and give a voice to the voiceless.
As your Mayor and Safety Director, I will continue to provide outstanding leadership, transparency, and integrity, proposing legislation that enhances the quality of life for our residents. Richmond Heights is more than a city; it is our home. Together, we can build a community where families flourish, businesses thrive, and every resident has the opportunity to succeed. I ask for your support, not just for me, but for a bright future for Richmond Heights. As we look ahead, let's lead by the story we tell. I am committed to writing a progress, unity, and resilience narrative.
I look forward to serving you once again and building upon the strong foundation we've established together. Thank you for your trust and support!

First CALL Program
- We are proud to be a part of the First CALL program. First CALL, The Mental Health Response program began in Shaker Heights in 2022. It expanded to include Cleveland Heights, University Heights, Richmond Heights, and South Euclid, forming the First CALL (Crisis Assistance and Local Linkage) program.
- Building on Shaker's success, the five cities added three licensed mental health professionals and three peer support workers. These professionals serve all partner communities. The peer support personnel, trained individuals with lived experience, operate under the supervision of licensed professionals.
- The expansion was announced on May 7, 2024, with the participation of Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne and the mayors of the five cities. This initiative is funded by the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County, the U.S. Department of Justice's COPS Office, the George Gund Foundation, and Cuyahoga County, with additional funding anticipated. In July 2025, we welcomed Parma to the first Call family.
